Sociological characteristics of the Polish players console - Poll Results

This study was conducted on a group of 793 players console. These results will be used to write my seminar paper. Moving this theme had two objectives. decided to conduct his research over the Internet, reaching out to the players through forums on the subject of a console. In this way, I was able to hit a wide and diverse range of players. Picked the forums that meet these guidelines:
- forums that are closely related to the topic of consoles, and are not added to the forums such as themed computer games and new technologies
- forums moving theme of all the consoles
- forums focusing moving subjects consoles on a theme relating to the Games konsolowymi (Like retro games, Japanese games, blogs devoted to games)

only forums I believe that this type of separation has helped me become closer in the direction of objectivity and to characterize the current interest in the actual use consoles on the Polish gaming market.

The survey was open from 21.03.2010 to 27.03.2010. Filled 793 respondents. I put it on 16 selected forums on the subject of a console. Below is a direct address and a brief description:

Results of the survey:

first Gender
vast majority of the respondents were male (95%). Only 5% of the respondents are women. These types of results are not surprising. Paradoxically, 5% of women playing consoles, it's not such a small result. It's almost 40 respondents. Coefficient of women who play slowly begins to emerge, and 5% among the respondents is documenting this thesis. However, the same result shows clearly that console games are currently in Poland, men's domain.
second Age
vast group of console players are young people aged from 1915 to 1926 years (78%). The age range was 9-14 with only 5% of respondents, while no respondent was not at the age of 3-8 years. The results of the study are offset by a stereotype for Games, which says that the games are targeted mainly for children. The results of the survey show something completely different.

Almost half of respondents have secondary education (46%). One quarter of the players of higher education (25%). Is almost the same players with primary education (24%). Only 5% of respondents have professional training. These results are certainly determined by the average age of respondents.

7th Hours per week devoted to playing
Most people (27%) game console from 6 to 10 hours a week. A little less of people from 1 to 5 hours (21%) and from 11 to 15 hours (19%). Very few respondents play less than 1 hour per week (3%). On the other hand are those who play more than 30 hours per week (6%).
8th Preferred genre
Most people as their favorite genre chose shooting games (69%). Equally high popular adventure games (67%). Immediately after them are RPGs (57%), Jump (48%) and race (45%). Lower interest among respondents to create sports games (30%), logical (26%), music (25%), strategic (24%). In other (7%) most respondents mentioned such genres as action games, fighting, slashery, stealth and skill games.
9th Chosen mode of play
vast majority of respondents answered that the game in offline mode (91%). From this it follows that 9% of respondents only game on the network. The online mode selects 67% of respondents. This result confirms my point staked prior to this study saying that despite access to the Internet (Prov. survey conducted via the Internet), up 33% of respondents not currently using a network game. One reason may be lack of knowledge about the network service games.
10th The console on which respondents are playing mostly

Most respondents (79%) believe that the games have improved their language skills. More than half of respondents (61%) games owes increase their reflexes. 41% of people think that the games increased their ability to make quick decisions. 27% of respondents in the game sees the opportunity to meet the hidden dreams, impossible to achieve in everyday life, while 19% believe that games affect the increase in communication skills. In other pros (9%) the respondents they see in playing the most attention was paid to the opportunity to meet new people entering the friendly familiarity, improved mood, relaxation, effective way to boredom, expand logical thinking, abstract thinking skills increase, improving rhythm, low energy, cultural development and education. In turn, 9% do not have recognized any advantages arising from the play.
16th Cons what respondents perceived by playing
Over half the respondents believe that playing them less time needed to perform other actions (53%). 31% of those surveyed believe that games affect the reduction in their willingness to education. 9% of respondents believe that the Games contributed to the increased aggressiveness. 7% of the games sees the deterioration of family relationships, while only 5% of respondents would like to move the event from the game for everyday life. Last result debunks the stereotype again talking about the fact that many players play a scene in the game known, in everyday life. These people are just a handful. The other downside (4%) of the respondents perceived by playing, most people blamed the deterioration of vision, a lot of money spent on the game at the expense of other products and lack of sufficient time for sleep. A few people as well emphasized the drawbacks of playing to spend time playing at the expense of science, the increase in the level of frustration due to inability to play at a time, slowing down the process of acquiring knowledge, obesity, addiction. In turn, 31% of people do not have recognized any disadvantages arising from the play.
17th How to evaluate players konsolowi other people with whom they play
Half of those surveyed believe that other people are playing nice people. On the other hand, 40% believe that people are very communicative and open. 26% of players do not no definite opinion about other people playing because they rarely talk with these people. 22% of respondents believe that other people playing frequently abuse profanity. Least because only 2% of respondents believe that the players with whom they play, people are closed in themselves, who are not willing to talk.

Most respondents are interested in playing in addition to the film (92%) and music (89%). More than half of respondents also indicated interest in the book (59%). Fewer people are spending free time in the disco (23%) and in opera and theater (15%). A very pleasant surprise for me was the sincerity and the multiplicity of responses to open questions. I admit that they have given me much food for thought. If it happens that I conducted another survey, certainly I will take into account many of the interviewers raised by the content. However, although the survey was not perfect, it seems to me that it rubbed some trails on the way towards a wider look at the games console.
